Interior Design Lighting Tips for a Better Home

Lighting has always been looked upon as an easy task and hence most neglected one. As easy as it appears it has many layers and complexities attached which we generally tend to overlook. Lighting can be the deal maker or the deal breaker of your house, choose wisely. Here are a few tips for the same:

  • Fixing the light source

It is not important to light the whole room with artificial or natural light but it is important to manage the diffusion of light into the areas which require it. Adding this layered diffusion into the room will highlight the room’s interior and will make visible how correct dispersion of light can bring changes in the appearance of the room.

  • The Dimmer, the Winner

Lighting plays an important role in defining the interiors and also changing the mood of the observer. Many times in an Ill lit room one feels uncomfortable of something that keeps bothering them but they don't know what. Adding Dimmers can help in reducing the energy consumption, increasing bulb life and also as they are adjustable they can complement the right mood, event, and time of the day.

  • Variations

Not every room requires the same amount of lighting and so depending upon the needs of the room lighting sources should be placed. Instead of putting lights in the middle or corners which makes shadows in the room and also in the places you need to sit or work. Lights should be placed below your eye level where you work.

Lighting plays a part of the decor of the house and with the right combination of table lamps, floor lamps and down lights one can enliven even the mood of a dull and dark place.
